OUT OF CHARACTER
As we are a roleplaying guild, we will only take those applicants on who are enthusiastic about RP. You don't have to be a lore know-it-all, or turn into a walking dictionary to join us however some basic knowledge is prefered. The Marauders however wont hesitate to educate you on what you need, considering you're willing to learn! We do also offer a raid team, and a PvP team that you will have the chance to join if you are accepted into the Marauders.
(Q): Please note any RP experience you have (The Marauders are willing to help you if you lack experience considering you are willing to learn!)
(A): As for RP experience I can only point to my several years of pen&paper roleplaying in D&D 3.5, 4th edition, Pathfinder, and I even did some WoW RPG a few years back. While I understand it's not the same, I believe it gives me certain confidence in roleplaying even though I haven't RP'd in WoW before.
(Q): Why do you want to join us?
(A): I browsed through several guild forums to find my match and your lot seemed to be the most mature, civil, reasonable yet fun.
(Q): What is your own definition of roleplay?
(A): When I talk about roleplaying, I think empathizing your character well. Every character, just like any existing individual, is their own person, who reacts to events based on their previous experiences, their upbringing and their nature. Everything your character does or says has a reason. If I can bring forward the feeling that my character is a real person, I have succeeded in good roleplaying.
It doesn't mean my character can't sometimes conflict what they have done or said before – in those cases the conflict only seems to be there. It's different if you want at first kill bunnies and then the second day you say bunny killers are bad people, because that there is a real conflict. But, for example, I can disagree with torturing a prisoner to get information at first, but if it turns out we should have done so to prevent something worse from happening, the next time my character can agree with the torture, and it's not because I'm contradicting myself, but because I have learned from my mistakes.
(Q): What do you think makes a good roleplayer?
(A): A lot of this has to do what I said above, if you can keep your character's personality intact, you are probably doing a good job. You also have to keep in mind not everything is about YOUR character, and – to reasonable extent – support what other players are doing with their characters. That way you are adding to the immersion and not destroying it.
(Q): Do you wish to raid with us? If so what experience do you have.
(A): My raiding experience is rather minimal and I'm not that interested in PvE.
(Q): Are you interested in PvP such as rated battlegrounds and arena groups? If so, what experience do you have with these
(A): RP and PvP are my main interests at the moment. I haven't PvP'd much, mostly some random BG's, but I'd like to hone my skills. I will still include a lot of other things in my life, so no PvP for me every night, thanks.
(Q): How did you hear about the Shatterskull Marauders? (Forum, friends, ingame etc)
(A): I came across a mention of your guild in eu.battle.net/wow forums.
IN CHARACTER (Meaning it's a dialog)
Greetings potential Marauder. It is required of you to answer a series of questions in moderate detail so we can assess your suitability to us. We are a warband built on bloodthirst, strategy, honour, strength and respect. If you lack these, you are not the candidate for us. However, if you think you have what it takes, carry on!
(Q): Please state your name and the race that you hail from.
(A): I'm Tora'ju, a Darkspear troll.
(Q): Why do you wish to join the warband?
(A): I want allies who will march into battle with me, not knowing fear or regret. I need friends who I can really connect with, who will genuinely share with me the joy in fighting.
(Q): While with us, you will be required to fight. Are you willing to fight to the best of your ability for the sake of the Horde and the warband?
(A): Fighting is not only my duty, it's my pleasure.
(Q): Please tell us a bit about yourself, this can be personal history, hobbies, or anything.
(A): My teacher has told me many times I'm too reckless, and maybe it's true, but the way I see it I'm not afraid to test my limits. I may not be up for every challenge, but it doesn't keep me from trying. How do you know what you can do if you don't try?
(Q): We are considered an elite fighting force amongst the Horde. What have you trained and specialized in? What makes you unique in combat?
(A): I have received training in the ways of the elements and with their power I can strike down my opponents and mend my allies.
(Q): We as a warband are not fond on cowardice, disobedience, or lack of strength. How will you plan to prove to us you lack these traits during your initiation period?
(A): I was never a coward, that much is certain. Give me a task, I'll see it completed, give me a battle, I'll see it won.
The Alliance have launched an assault on the Horde of vast proportions. Your home city is under siege, you are defending the walls against your race's foes.
Caught on patrol whilst trying to reach you, your friends in the Marauders are taken prisoner by the Alliance, and in time will be executed. Your people will never allow you to leave; you can only abandon your post in secret. Leaving your post leaves a blind spot in your city’s defenses, one the Alliance are sure to notice and use to break through the walls.
If you rescue your friends, there is no chance you will be able to re-enter your city.
There is no chance the other races of the Horde can send military forces to your home city as they are fighting on their own fronts.

(Q): Do you abandon your post and leave your city to die or do you break out under cover of darkness to rescue your friends?
(A): If they are truly my friends, I will choose to fight for them. If they are not, they'll have to take care of themselves. If they survive, they have proven their skill, and if they die, they have died a hero's death.
